Job Description

Are you passionate about building robots and robot products that use creative mechanical and software design, integrated with machine data sets to perform remarkable tasks. Do you also get your greatest satisfaction teaching others how to build the future generation of robots that exhibit behaviors and serve roles never before possible. Such candidates should consider bringing their skills to UAT.  Possessing a strong background in robotics, mechatronics, programming and platform build skills, potential faculty candidates  will possess at least 3 years experience specializing in the design, development, and/or manufacture of robotics or complex embedded systems. The successful candidate has personally built  fully or semi-autonomous robots with features such as wheel encoders, inertial guidance, mapping, vision recognition, object detection, PID-control, self-balancing, etc. The candidate can show evidence of their designs and design proficiency. The successful candidate has a knowledge base that covers the development process of rapid prototyping and can take his/her idea to completion with no additional help. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to crisply communicate ideas answers and solutions to students. The candidate should have experience in the use of the Arduino family of embedded controllers . Raspberry Pi and other systems are desired.

  • Design and complete robotic and embedded systems solutions that apply to real-world situations and challenges.
  • Demonstrate embedded system design skills, including, but not limited to, microcontroller selection, schematic design, printed circuit board layout, design for electromagnetic compatibility and design for manufacturing.
  • Apply knowledge of transducers, actuators and simultaneous hardware and software development in the design of an embedded system.
  • Design and analyze real-time embedded systems, including advanced digital logic design, signal processing and high-speed digital systems.
  • Implement and evaluate algorithms and methods enabling autonomy in a mobile robot.
